Written by Allen White on October 4, Posted in HP ProcurveNetworking. Below you will find commands on how to disable and enable ports on the HP procurve E-series and the A-series.
This can be done on individual ports, ranges or you can actually disable or enable all of the ports. First to disable a single port on the a series switch we use the command below. These commands must be ran in system mode. If we need to shutdown all of the ports on the switch then we create a port group.
When we do so we give the group a name. We now simply use the SH command when we are in the group to disable all the ports. This to me is a lot more simple on the e series than the a. Again to disable a single port use the command below.

To make changes permanent, you must use the write memory command to save them to the Startup-Config file in non-volatile memory. If you reboot the switch without first using write memoryall changes made since the last reboot or write memory whichever is later will be lost. For more on switch memory and saving configuration changes, see Switch Memory and Configuration.
Privilege levels control the type of access to the CLI. To implement this control, you must set at least a Manager password. Without a Manager password configured, anyone having serial port, Telnet, or web browser access to the switch can reach all CLI levels. For more on setting passwords, See the chapter on usernames and passwords in the Access Security Guide for your switch.Oppo f5 youth flashing
When you use the CLI to log on to the switch, and passwords are set, you will be prompted to enter a password. For example:. In the above case, you will enter the CLI at the level corresponding to the password you provide operator or manager. If no passwords are set when you log onto the CLI, you will enter at the Manager level. If a Manager password is not configured, then the Manager level is not password-protected, and anyone having in-band or out-of-band access to the switch may be able to reach the Manager level and compromise switch and network security.
Note that configuring only an Operator password does not prevent access to the Manager level by intruders who have the Operator password. Pressing the Clear button on the front of the switch removes password protection.
For this reason, it is recommended that you protect the switch from physical access by unauthorized persons. If you are concerned about switch security and operation, you should install the switch in a secure location, such as a locked wiring closet.
At the Operator level you can examine the current configuration and move between interfaces without being able to change the configuration.Written by Allen White on October 4, Posted in HP ProcurveNetworking. HP Switch Initial Configuration
You must disable ALL ports for this to occur. The HP switches covered in this guide also support some pre For a list of the supported devices, see the FAQ for your switch model. For a given level, ports are prioritized by port number in ascending order.
For example, if ports have a priority level of critical, port 1 has priority over ports If there is not enough power available to provision all active PoE ports at a given priority level, the lowest-numbered port at that level is provisioned first.
For chassis switches, the lowest-numbered port at that level starting with module A, then B, C, and so on is provisioned. PoE priorities are invoked only when all active PoE ports cannot be provisioned supplied with PoE power.
The critical priority class always receives power. If there is not enough power to provision PDs on all ports configured for this class, no power goes to ports configured for high and low priority. If there is enough power to provision PDs on only some of the critical-priority ports, power is allocated to these ports in ascending order, beginning with the lowest-numbered port in the class, which, in this case, is port 3.
The high priority class receives power only if all PDs on ports with a critical priority setting are receiving power. If there is not enough power to provision PDs on all ports with a high priority, no power goes to ports with a low priority.
If there is enough power to provision PDs on only some of the high-priority ports, power is allocated to these ports in ascending order, beginning, in this Example:, with port 18, until all available power is in use. This priority class receives power only if all PDs on ports with high and critical priority settings are receiving power. If there is enough power to provision PDs on only some low- priority ports, power is allocated to the ports in ascending order, beginning with the lowest-numbered port in the class port 22, in this caseuntil all available power is in use.
In this case, the command is not necessary. Allows you to manually allocate the amount of PoE power for a port by either its class or a defined value.
The default option for PoE allocation is usagewhich is what a PD attached to the port is allocated. You can override this value by specifying the amount of power allocated to a port by using the class or value options. Uses the power ramp-up signature of the PD to identify which power class the device will be in.Jim.tyler.diagram.trovaidea.it: diagram base website full
Classes and their ranges are shown in Power classes and their values. This is the default class; if there is not enough information about the load for a specific classification, the PSE classifies the load as class 0 zero. You can specify a power level in watts allocated for a port by using the value option. To check the mode setting for a port on the switch, use either the Port Status screen in the menu interface or show interfaces brief in the CLI see Viewing port status and configuration CLI.

Also negotiates flow control enabled or disabled. Cat 5 cabling is required for Mbps links.
Auto : Uses Mbps and negotiates with the port at the other end of the link for other port operation features.
Auto : Allows the port to establish a link with the port at the other end at either 10 Mbps or Mbps, using the highest mutual speed and duplex mode available. Only these speeds are allowed with this setting. Auto default : The port operates at FDx and auto-negotiates flow control with the device connected to the port. Auto: The port operates at 10 gigabits FDx and negotiates flow control.Diagram based 68 camaro light switch wiring diagram
Lower speed settings or half-duplex are not allowed. Fiber ports and gigabit ports do not use this feature. Automdix : Configures the port for automatic detection of the cable type straight-through or crossover.
